William “Bill” Hughbanks is an experienced attorney whose practice focuses on construction disputes, commercial litigation, breach of commercial contract matters and employment disputes. Bill assists his commercial clients at all stages of litigation by providing counsel with the aim of reducing the chance of future disputes and, if a dispute does arise, working with his clients to resolve it without having to resort to litigation. However, if a lawsuit is inevitable, Bill is a tenacious litigator who advocates strongly for his clients.
Bill has litigated large, multi-million dollar matters in state and federal courts in Washington, Idaho and Montana and received favorable results for his clients. Bill also recognizes that, in some instances, settlement negotiations may be in his clients’ best interest and will ardently advocate for the best result possible under the circumstances. Ultimately, Bill looks at the facts and law for each matter individually and works with his clients to determine the best, most practical course of action for each case.
Bill is a lifelong resident of Spokane and has deep roots in the community. He currently serves on the board of directors for Washington’s Chapter of Backcountry Hunters and Anglers, and he is an active member of the organization. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Bill served in the US Marines from 2001 to 2005. During Bill’s active-duty service, he was deployed twice to Iraq where he earned a Purple Heart medal for wounds received in action.
After receiving an honorable discharge from the Marines, Bill returned to Spokane to attend college at Eastern Washington University and attending law school at Gonzaga University. When he is not in the office, Bill can be found floating the rivers or exploring the woodlands of eastern Washington, Idaho and Montana with his wife and two dogs.
