Kacy grew up in Spangle, Washington, where he still lives today with his wife and two children. Directly after high school, Kacy joined the United States Marine Corps where he served as an infantry machine gunner on two combat deployments to Iraq with Second Battalion Third Marines. After the Marines, Kacy attended Eastern Washington University where he graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in creative writing.

Kacy clerked for two of the largest law firms in Eastern Washington prior to earning his J.D. magna cum laude from the Gonzaga University School of Law in 2023. During law school, Kacy was the Managing Editor of the Gonzaga Law Review and a member of the Moot Court Honors Council.  

Kacy is also an accomplished author. His debut memoir Freaks of a Feather: A Marine Grunt’s Memoir won the coveted Marine Corps Heritage Foundation’s 2023 Eugene Sledge Award, given for the best Marine memoir written in the past three years. His articles and essays have appeared in The New York Times, Task & Purpose, The War Horse, Leatherneck Magazine, Zero-Dark-Thirty Literary Journal, and various websites.

Kacy's practice focuses on general civil litigation, land use, residential and commercial landlord-tenant, estate planning and probate, and general business law.
